Cable insulation and outer sheathing serve different purposes. Electrical properties are central to insulation, while environmental exposure, abrasion and mechanical conditions may govern sheathing. Selection depends on cable type, voltage class, temperature and the applicable standard. Do not assume one PVC grade suits every cable class.
How to prepare a technical enquiry
State hardness, tensile and elongation targets, heat-ageing conditions and required electrical tests. Share extruder, die, line speed and conductor construction details. For plasticizers considered for low volatility, such as TOTM, measure properties after ageing in the complete formulation. Compare DOTP and other alternatives under the same test conditions. Typical TDS values are not evidence that your finished cable passes its standard.

Assess long-term heat ageing, mass loss and retention of mechanical properties together. TOTM viscosity may affect processing and mixing conditions. The raw material's flash point is not the continuous service temperature of the finished PVC article; validate temperature ratings through finished-product tests.

Select DOTP against the complete formulation: target Shore hardness, resin, filler loading, processing temperature and service conditions. When replacing DOP or DINP, validate the dosage in a pilot run and ageing tests rather than assuming identical mechanical performance at the same loading.
