DOTP / DEHT, DINP and DOP / DEHP are different plasticizers considered for flexible PVC. DOTP is a terephthalate, while DINP and DEHP belong to the orthophthalate family. Confirm chemical identity and CAS number when ordering by the commercial term DOP: Plastay specifies CAS 117-81-7 for Versafleks DOP and CAS 6422-86-2 for Sunfleks DOTP.
Which one should you choose?
No single plasticizer is best for every PVC application. Consider target hardness, resin, filler loading, processing temperature, migration and service life together. Use the same specimen thickness, conditioning and test methods for direct comparisons. When moving from DINP or DOP to DOTP, do not assume the same phr loading will give identical hardness and ageing results. Follow laboratory comparisons with a production trial.
Suitability for use
Do not infer a universal prohibition or permission covering all products and countries for DOP / DEHP or DINP. Requirements depend on substance, concentration, product category and market. Technical documentation and regulatory declarations serve different purposes.
