PVC Hose Compounds and Plasticizer Selection
Hose performance depends on the contact medium and service conditions as well as the PVC formulation. Select samples against those conditions.
Define the contact medium
Contact with water, oil, chemicals or another medium can create different extraction and compatibility conditions. Include pressure, temperature, contact duration and bending frequency in sample evaluation. Finished-hose suitability cannot be inferred directly from the raw-material choice.
Balancing flexibility and permanence
Evaluate DOTP, DOA and polymeric plasticizers for different targets. Use low-temperature tests when cold flexibility is needed and migration or extraction tests for prolonged contact. Check clarity and processing surface quality on the same sample.
