PVC Compounds and Plasticizers for Automotive Applications
Automotive PVC parts must manage thermal, contact and mechanical conditions simultaneously. Select materials against the part and the customer's specification.

Part conditions and customer specification
Cable, gaskets and interior trim require different test plans. Specify service temperature, contact materials, mechanical loading and appearance requirements at the outset. Low volatility of one raw material alone does not establish compliance with odour or emissions limits.
Samples and validation
TOTM may be considered for temperature and volatility, and polymeric plasticizers for migration targets. Validate suitability through ageing and contact tests on the complete formulation. State OEM approval or compliance with a specification only when supported by current evidence for the particular grade.
